In April's upcoming webinar, we will look at the topics related to analysing and assessing Bolted Joints using Abaqus FEA.

Assessments of bolted joints can be performed for a number of reasons. Before starting any FE modelling of bolted joints it is important that the analyst considers the purpose of the analysis and plans it. A summary of typical aspects which should be considered during the planning will be covered.

The behaviour of bolted joints can be affected by a range of factors, including pretension, relaxation, friction and gasket properties. A short discussion of the factors which may be relevant will be given.

A number of FE modelling techniques can be used to analyse bolted joints. These will be described, along with their benefits and limitations. The assessment of the results from an analysis will be project/joint specific. However, typical assessment criteria will be described.
